How Firm a Foundation

Well, let's hope it firm!! Yesterday they poured the foundation and this morning I got pics of the completed foundation. With every step I think, "Wow, it's starting to take shape and look like a house." This step was no exception.

Here are some pics from yesterday when they had just poured the foundation walls.

And here is where we are this morning. The forms are down and you can see the house really taking shape. Next step: spray some tar along the footings and backfill next to them. Mark may work something so we can get that gravel in without braking our backs doing it.

Setting up the Foundation

This morning Grandpa Gull went out and took these fun photos for us. So glad Grandma Gull can send them to us via email. They are putting up the forms for the foundation which will be poured later today.

This is so surreal to me! I can't wait to show the pictures to the boys after school!

Along the back of the house. The two bay areas: dining area and Mindy's reading spot in the master bedroom. I can picture me there now, relaxing in the peace and quiet.

Northwest corner of the house. One of the boys' bedrooms. Other than where Mark and I will sleep, the sleeping arrangements have yet to be made.

Front of the house and side entry garages. Yes, I will have a place to park a car out of the snow and ice!

South side of the house and front load garages.

Footings

And I'm not talking about shoes here. Today they worked on the footings, and I am hoping that tomorrow they will finish the walls.

It was priceless when we showed the boys the pics that Grandma and Grandpa had sent via email!! They were so excited to say the least. Today it seemed even more real that we are really building a house! It keeps getting better and better.

A new home for my house updates

I thought it would be best to separate the house updates from the "other" updates. Let's hope I have more to talk about than just the house!!
